The beginnings (Year 2000)

Comarsa was founded in the port of Vigo as a Ship Agents, initially focusing its activity on ship’s repairs and supplies. From the start, the company has been defined by efficient management and closeness to clients of various sizes and sectors.

Expansion of services (2001 – 2002)

• 2001: Based as Ship Agent from the start, Comarsa takes the step to operate also as a freight forwarder, specializing primarily in frozen and perishable goods—a key industry in the Vigo area.
• The company officially registers as a customs broker, expanding its workforce and incorporating new professional profiles to meet the growing demand for import and export procedures.

Alliance with MACS (2003)

In April 2003, Comarsa was appointed as agent for the German shipping line MACS (Maritime Carrier Shipping GmbH), based in Hamburg. This shipping line, specializing in traffic between Europe and Southern Africa, operates multipurpose vessels capable of transporting refrigerated containers, general cargo, heavy lift cargo,and bulk cargoes. For Comarsa, representing MACS means strengthening its international presence and offering direct routes, without transshipment, to its customers.

Opening a Branch office in Portugal (2013)

Seeking to extend the same spirit of service and efficiency to the Portuguese market, Comarsa opened an office in Matosinhos (Porto) in 2013. This expansion allows for a more efficient service to Portuguese customers and partners, while maintaining the philosophy of personalized, door-to-door service.

OEA Certification (2014)

In January 2014, Comarsa obtained certification as an Authorized Economic Operator for Customs Simplification, Protection, and Security (OEAF) ES-AEOF-1400000-3U6, the most comprehensive and demanding recognition in customs matters. This achievement confirms the reliability and security of Comarsa’s processes, strengthening the faith that government agencies and the different actors in the logistics chain have in Comarsa.
